Mysuru Dasara Mahotsava: Decision to bring 8 elephants led by Abhimanyu

Mysuru, September 8, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The State Government has decided to celebrate the world-famous Mysuru Dasara Mahotsav in a simple manner. As a result of this, it is decided to rope in eight elephants for the celebrations.
Eight out of the total 16 elephants have been selected to take part in the Mysuru Dasara celebrations and the Forest Department has decided to bring them to Mysuru. Mysuru District In-charge Minister S.T. Somashekar will announce the names of these elephants soon. The list of elephants and a handbook will be released today.
The ‘Gajapayana’ from Veerahoshalli in Hunsur will commence on September 13 and it will arrive at the Ambavilasa Palace in Mysuru on September 16. Abhimanyu will be the captain.
DCF Karikalan visited the elephant camp to check the health condition of all the 16 elephants and had prepared a list of 8 selected elephants and had forwarded the details to the Office of the PCCF in Bengaluru. Following this, the PCCF has selected 8 elephants, under the captainship of Abhimanyu.
Last year only three male and two female elephants had participated in the Dasara celebrations. This time two male and one female elephant have been added to that list. There will be 5 male and 3 female elephants.
