Rural students require more awareness on science: UoM VC

Mysuru, September 9, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar has informed that the University will make efforts to create more awareness among the rural students about science subjects through the University Science Education Center.
He inaugurated the Union Internet program, held at the Vignana Bhavana, in Manasagangotri today, organized by the University of Mysore, in association with the CSES. He informed that it is an outreach program of the Science Education Centre and it was established in the year 2006. “The Post Graduation Department professors of our University will go to the schools and create awareness on science. This program is being held in four districts,” he explained.
“The Mobile Science Lab was established in the year 2017. Efforts are made to demonstrate various laboratory experiments to the students through the mobile science lab. The mobile lab visits schools in villages on every Saturday, accompanied by senior scientists and teachers. The purpose of this program is to create interest among the students to learn science. Presently 10 government schools have been adopted. The mobile science lab visits these schools also,” he added.
Dr.M.S. Chandrashekar, Prof. K.A.Raveesh, Prof. K.S. Mallesh, Prof. G.R. Janardhan, Prof. Bhagyalakshmi, Hariprasad, Prof. R. Rangarajan, Dr. Asha Iyengar, Prof. B.J. Jagadish, Prof. Malini, H.Srinivas, S. Ravikumar, K. Somashekar and others were present.
