Former CM HDK expresses ire on State Govt. over Mekedatu project

Bengaluru, July20, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “The State Government is acting as directed by the BJP high command concerning the Mekedatu project. The BJP is against this project. Compared to the concerted efforts of the neighboring Tamil Nadu State Government in preventing the project, the Karnataka Government is not making any strategies, except saying that the project will be implemented at any cost. This way, it is misleading the people of the State,” said former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy.
The former CM in his series of tweets over this issue has mentioned that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said that the Mekedatu project won’t take off as promised by the Prime Minister and Union Water Resource Minister. “Whereas the BJP leaders in the State are saying that the center has given assurance, then are the BJP leaders statements wrong? Is this the benefit if the same party is in power both in the State and Centre?” he has questioned.
He has stated that the state government should try to collect the opinion of all instead of behaving as it likes. Otherwise, the Mekedatu project will also remain as a case like the Cauvery river case.
