Gang rape case: Five, including one minor held-DG&IGP Praveen Sood

Mysuru, August 28, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Director General of Police Praveen Sood has informed that five persons including a minor have been arrested concerning the gang rape case that took place in Mysuru.


Addressing a press meet held in Mysuru today he informed that seven teams were formed to nab the miscreants. The incident took place between 7 and 8 pm on August 24. The miscreants have confessed that they demanded Rs.3 lakh from the body and the girl who refused. “We still haven’t received any information from the victim. However, we collected a little information from her friend and we have arrested five people. I cannot reveal more as per the High Court instructions. All five of them belong to Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. There are six of them involved in the case. One has absconded. They were held based on technical and scientific evidence. All these used to visit Mysuru often and all of them are labourers, who were working as daily wagers and drivers. Out of them, one is a minor, aged around 17 years. But more investigation is required. While one has studied up to 8th standard, another person has studied up to 7th standard and the remaining of them are illiterates. All of them have a criminal background as per the preliminary investigations,” Praveen Sood informed.
