Basava, Ambedkar are architects of equal society: UoM VC

Mysuru, August 10, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Basavanna and Ambedkar are architects of an equal society,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He inaugurated the two-day National webinar on the topic, “Basaveshwara and Ambedkar: Architects of Equal Society of India,” organized by the Social Science Department, Maharaja College. In his address, he explained that he believes that god will reincarnate to provide justice whenever there is an attack on Dharma (justice). “Likewise, Basaveshwara in the 12th Century and Dr. Babasaheb Amedkar in the 19th Century took birth to fight against untouchability, exploitation of Dalits, and reform the society that was overflowing with ignorance and superstitions,” he said.
Dr. Shashikanth Pattan, Principal, Pune Pharmacy College, participated as the resource person. In his address, he informed that Basavanna had contemplated the parliament system as long ago as the 12th Century. “Western Democratic reformers have mentioned Basavanna as the architect of Parliament. He was the person who fought for the equality of women through Anubhava Mantapa. He had a vision and love for equality in society,” he added.
