Two percent reservation for sportspersons in Govt. jobs: CM Bommai

Bengaluru, August 29, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today informed that achievers in sports will be provided a 2% reservation in government jobs.
He launched the Grameena Kreedotsava and Yogathon, organized on the occasion of the National Sports Day, and Ekalavya, Lifetime Achievement, Karnataka Kreeda Ratna awards for the year 2020 and Kreeda Poshaka Award for the year 2021-22.
In his address, he said, “world-class training is being provided for 75 sportspersons in the State to enable them to participate in the Paris Olympics. The government aims to prepare them to win medals in the Olympic games. To encourage rural youth also to become sports achievers the government has commenced the rural sports meet. Games like Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Kambala, Bullock Cart race, etc., reflect the rural sports culture. Competitions are being held at the Gram Panchayat, Taluk, District, and State levels. Efforts are made to identify talented youth in the field of sports in rural areas and encourage them.”
Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakti Yojana to encourage self-employment and employment generation:
“Improvement of education and increasing job opportunities are important for the empowerment of the youth. Our government launched the Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakti Yojana on August 15. Under this program, 30 youth will be identified in each village and a union will be formed. They will be provided projects worth Rs. 7.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh, along with Rs. 1.5 lakh subsidy and training will be provided in manufacturing and linking it with the market. Encouraging the youth to undertake self-employment and generate job opportunities is the objective of this program. This way we aim to create five lakh jobs. It is a special program that enables the youth to find financial and social independence,” he added.
