KEA Scam: Proposal of reappointing suspended Prof. in UoM Syndicate meeting

Mysuru, December 10, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Prof. H. Nagaraj, of the Department of Geology, University of Mysore, who was suspended from his duty in relation with the Assistant Professors’ Examination question paper leak scam has appealed the University requesting his re-appointment.
In his letter, the suspended Prof. Nagaraj has appealed to cancel his suspension order and allow him to rejoin duty as he has already completed six months after suspension. A discussion of his appeal was held in the Syndicate meeting, where a few members agreed and a few others disagreed. However, finally it is learnt that the Syndicate arrived at a decision to obtain the opinion of legal experts as the matter is in the Court.
“Prof. Nagaraj has written a letter mentioning that his suspension period is completed and appealed to allow him to rejoin duty. His proposal is submitted in the Syndicate meeting and discussed. However there were mixed responses. As the matter is in the court, finally the meeting decided to get legal advice and take a final decision,” Prof. H. Rajashekar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore informed.
Prof. Nagaraj has also served as the Registrar of the Dharwad University. One of his student Sowmya was caught in the question paper scam. She also had disclosed his name, following which the police had arrested him and released later. However, this case is still in the court in the interrogation level. Former VC Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar had suspended Prof. Nagaraj after this incident.
