ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ 106 ನೇ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲ ಥಾವರ್ ಚಂದ್ ಗೆಹ್ಲೋಟ್, “ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ವಿಶ್ವ ಸಹೋದರತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶ್ವ ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸಮಾನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಧುನಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಧರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷೀಸಲು, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಗ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೊಸ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀತಿಯು ಈ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದರು.
“ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲು ನಾವು ದೃಢಸಂಕಲ್ಪ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಯುಗ ಇದು. ಈ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂದಿನ ಜಗತ್ತು ತ್ವರಿತ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ, ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹವಾಮಾನ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯಂತಹ ಸವಾಲುಗಳು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ, ವಿವೇಕ ಮತ್ತು ನೈತಿಕ ವಿಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಯುವಕರ ಪಾತ್ರವು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಜ್ಞಾನ, ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತಮ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ಜೈವಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ನವೋದ್ಯಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶವು ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸದ ಮತ್ತು “ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಭಾರತ”ವನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಭಾರತ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಯುವಪೀಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಕಠಿಣ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ “ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
“ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಲಾದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಗಳು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಏಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಗ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು, ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದು. ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾವಂತ ನಾಗರಿಕನಾಗಿ, ಈ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವುದು ನೈತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂವಿಧಾನಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಯುವಜನತೆ ಜೀವನದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
“ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ಭಾರತವು ಬೌದ್ಧಿಕ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ವೇದಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೆ, ಭಾರತೀಯರು ಖಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಿಂದ ಭೂವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ಗಣಿತ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಹಲವು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೇ, ಇಂದು ನೀವು ಪಡೆಯುವ ಪದವಿಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಯಶಸ್ಸು, ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ, ಶಿಸ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಬೌದ್ಧಿಕ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಧರ್ಮ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಸಮಾಜ, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದ ಎಸ್.ವಿ. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಬಾಬು, ಡಾ. ಟಿ. ಶಾಮ್ ಭಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪಿ. ಜಯಚಂದ್ರ ರಾಜು ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ಗೌರವ ಪದವಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶುಭ ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತಾ, ಅವರ ಈ ರೀತಿ ಸಮಾಜ, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲಿ ಎಂದು ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

“ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೇ, ವೈಫಲ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಂಜರಿಯಬೇಡಿ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ವೈಫಲ್ಯವು ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯ ಒಂದು ಹಂತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಲಿಯುವುದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಜದ ಕೊನೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೆ ರವಾನಿಸಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಈ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೋಷಕರು, ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳು ಅಪಾರ. ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ, ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪದವಿ ವಿಜೇತರು ಮತ್ತು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕ ವಿಜೇತರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕ ಅಭಿನಂದನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಘನತೆಯನ್ನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಎತ್ತಿಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

Governor’s Address at the 106th Annual Convocation of the University of Mysore
Mysuru, January 5, 2026 (Lok Bhavan News): The Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, emphasized that developing an education system that integrates modern knowledge with strong values is essential for preserving national unity, harmony, and cultural integrity.
Addressing the 106th Annual Convocation of the University of Mysore, the Governor said India’s rich cultural heritage has always promoted universal brotherhood, peace, equality, and harmony. “An education system rooted in values, along with modern knowledge, will help safeguard religion and culture, strengthen national unity and integrity, foster social harmony, and provide a positive direction to the world while benefiting humanity as a whole,” he said, adding that the National Education Policy is a significant step in this direction.
Highlighting the vision of a developed India, the Governor underlined the crucial role of youth in nation-building. He noted that rapid global changes driven by science and technology, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and climate change require skills, wisdom, and ethical approaches. “In such times, the responsibility of youth becomes even more significant,” he observed.
The Governor said Karnataka has consistently played a pioneering role in knowledge, innovation, and good governance and is currently leading the nation in information technology, biotechnology, space science, entrepreneurship, and higher education. He stated that the youth represent a confident and determined India and Karnataka striving towards the goal of a ‘Developed India,’ and emphasized that knowledge, hard work, and a strong sense of duty are key to achieving this aspiration.
Referring to the Constitution, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot reminded students of their fundamental rights and duties, including protecting the unity and integrity of the nation, fostering scientific temper, and safeguarding public property. He said fulfilling these duties is both a moral and constitutional responsibility of educated citizens, and urged youth to make them an integral part of their lives.
The Governor highlighted India’s long-standing intellectual legacy, from Vedic times to the present, with unparalleled contributions in astronomy, geology, mathematics, medicine, and other fields. Congratulating the graduating students, he said the degrees awarded symbolized their academic excellence, discipline, research, and intellectual achievements, and urged them to use their knowledge not only for personal growth but also for the development of society, the state, and the nation.
During the convocation, the University conferred honorary degrees on Shri S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, Dr. T. Sham Bhat, and Shri P. Jayachandra Raju in recognition of their contributions to religion, culture, society, and public service. The Governor congratulated the awardees and appealed to them to continue their service to society and the nation.
Describing the University of Mysore as one of India’s oldest and most prestigious institutions, the Governor said it has consistently linked education with service, research, social responsibility, and national commitment. He recalled that the university stands on the land that nurtured eminent thinkers and nation-builders such as Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Kuvempu, and D.V. Gundappa, who shaped India’s intellectual identity globally. He noted that the 106th Convocation symbolized a meaningful confluence of knowledge, tradition, and modernity.
Urging students not to be discouraged by failures, the Governor said failure is an integral part of learning. He encouraged them to continue learning and to ensure that knowledge reaches the last person in society. Acknowledging the contributions of parents, faculty members, and the university community, he expressed gratitude for their guidance and sacrifices. He congratulated all degree recipients and gold medalists and called upon them to uphold the dignity of the University of Mysore, the State of Karnataka, and the nation.
Minister M.C. Sudhakar, former ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath, Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Loknath, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
