VC Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar assures establishment of ‘Buddhist Research Centre at UoM

Mysuru, Mar. 22, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “The International Buddhist Monks Charitable Trust has stepped forward to provide a sum of Rs. 25 lakh financial support to establish the ‘Buddhist Research Centre in the University of Mysore. The University of Mysore will also extend support for this and it will be established by getting a sum of Rs. 3 or Rs.4 crore grants from the State Government,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
Addressing a seminar on the topic, “Social and Philosophical Concerns of Buddhist Religion,” today, he explained that grants were provided to establish the Buddhist Research Centre under the Ambedkar Research Centre, University of Mysore. “I will be much happier if it is established under the Philosophy Research Department, as the Swami Vivekananda Peetha is functioning successfully for many years,” he added.Mysore VV-Buddhist-Study-Pedestal-Establishment-Chancellor-Prof.G.Hemant Kumar-promise
Speaking on the occasion, Bhante Manorakkhita Thera, Vice-President of the Nalanda Buddha University expressed his concern on the condition of the country which is facing caste and religious problems. “Everyone should understand the social concern and preaching of Buddha. A solution to many present problems of the country is available in Buddhism,” he opined.
