Union Cabinet approves proposal to increase marriage age of girls

New Delhi, December 16, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the wedding age of girls from 18 to 21 years.
Till now, girls below 18 years of age were not allowed to marry as per law in our country. It has been changed now. Accordingly, the minimum age to get married for girls will be 21 years.
This measure is said to have been taken not only to mitigate the lactating-infant mortality rate, eradicate lack of nutrition but also it helps the girls in attaining motherhood at an appropriate age.
The Government of India had formed a task force keeping all these problems in the mind. Now, approval has been given to the proposal based on the recommendations of the task force.
