He participated in the special lecture program on ‘Stress Management’, held at the Crawford Hall auditorium, in the University of Mysore, organized by the Department of Social Work, in association with the Office of the District Mental Health Program Officer, Mysuru, as part of the World Mental Health Day celebration.
“The WHO is observing the Mental Health Day since 1992. The theme for this year is ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.’ Cases of mental ill-health are increasing during post-COVID times. Both physical and mental health are equally important to lead a balanced life,” he explained.
“Irrespective of age and community, about 350 million people across the world are suffering from stress-related problems. Depression is also a big problem. However, there are various types of treatments available for it today. But adoption of those treatments are difficult in several countries. In a few countries treatment of such problems are available only for lesser than 10% of the population. Study of mental health is vast and includes various aspects like direct and indirect mental health and procedures. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) health means not just physical health, instead mental peace also,” he added.
