Case of imposing fine on entry of dalit boy into a temple: Case file against five

Koppal, September 22, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): A boy belonging to a Dalit community in Miyapura Village of Kushtagi Taluk, in Koppal District was fined by some people. A case has been filed against five persons in this case.
A case has been filed at the Kushtagi Police Station against five persons Kanakappa Poojari, Hanumagowda, Gavi Siddappa Myageri, Virupakshagowda Myageri, and Sharanagowda.
A four-year-old Dalit boy had gone to the nearby temple in Miyapura Village on September 4, as it was his birthday. It was alleged that the temple priest and village had imposed a sum of Rs. 25,000 fine for entering the temple, as he was a Dalit.
The Revenue Department officials and police had conducted a peace meeting in the village following the incident. The Social Welfare Department officials had lodged a complaint over the issue, following which cases have been filed at the Kushtagi Police Station against five persons.
