Awareness on gender equality essential in society: UoM VC

Mysuru, January 28, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “Efforts should be made to conduct more seminars and awareness programs on gender equality in the society,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in a virtual seminar on the topic, “Gender Equality and Protection against Sexual Harassment,” organised by the SPARSH (ABS and ICC), held at the Vignana Bhavana, Manasagangotri campus today.
“The University of Mysore, established by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar is the first university of the State and sixth in the entire country. It has a history of 100 years. Since its inception, the University of Mysore has given priority to girls’ education. Even now the number of girls is more than boys in this university. Thus, even the parents are giving priority to the education of girls. SPARSH Committee helps the women and girl students who are in problem. The committee conducts an inquiry and helps the women to get justice. I wish all the awareness programs that SPARSH conducts will reach all the staff members of the University,” he said.
Prof. Sarsu Esther Thomas, Department of Law, NSLIU, Bengaluru, and High Court advocate Sumitra Acharya delivered an online lecture program. SPARSH Committee Director Prof. K.G.
