ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಮೇ,27, 2025 (www.justkannada.in): ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ನ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ರಸೆಲ್ ಗ್ರೂಪ್‌ನ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿರುವ ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ಸಾಗರೋತ್ತರ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಇಂದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿತು. ವಿದೇಶಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಈ ಮೊದಲ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ 2026ರ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದೆ.
ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿನ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತದ ನಡುವಣ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಹೊಸ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿ ಬರೆದ ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಚಿವರು, ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಉನ್ನತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾದರು. ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಈ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಸಚಿವರು ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಬೃಹತ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಮ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸಚಿವ ಎಂ.ಬಿ ಪಾಟೀಲ, ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಚಿವ ಡಾ. ಎಂ.ಸಿ. ಸುಧಾಕರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಸಚಿವ ದಿನೇಶ್ ಗುಂಡೂರಾವ್ ಅವರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿರುವ ಈ ಹೊಸ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್, ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ವಿಶ್ವ ದರ್ಜೆಯ ಕಲಿಕಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಯಾನ ನಗರದ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಸ ಎತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಂಡೊಯ್ಯಲಿದೆ. ಲಿವರ್ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗೆ ಒತ್ತು ನೀಡುವ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯವಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಮಾನದಂಡಗಳಿಗೆ ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿರಲಿದೆ.
ಭಾರತ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ನ ಪ್ರವರ್ಧಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧಕರನ್ನು ಸನ್ನದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕ್ರಿಯಾಶೀಲ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆಯ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪರಿಸರದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆ ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲು ವೇಗವರ್ಧಕವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದೆ.
ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್‌ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್‌ ಮೆಂಟ್‌, ಲೆಕ್ಕಪತ್ರ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಣಕಾಸು, ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ಬಯೊಮೆಡಿಕಲ್‌ ಸೈನ್ಸ್‌, ಮತ್ತು ಗೇಮ್ ಡಿಸೈನ್‌ ಸೇರಿವೆ. ತದನಂತರದ ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಬೋಧನಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ ಮಾಡುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇದೆ.
ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರವೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರು, “ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ವಿದೇಶಿ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ತಾಣವಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನವನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೃತ್ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಈ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಯು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಲು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆʼ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಸಚಿವ ಎಂ. ಬಿ. ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ಸಾಗರೋತ್ತರ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಗಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಉದ್ಯಮ ವಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧಿಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸಶಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಸಹಯೋಗವು ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲೆಕ್ಟ್ರಾನಿಕ್ಸ್, ಏರೋಸ್ಪೇಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಜೈವಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಂತಹ ವಲಯಗಳ ನಡುವಣ ಗಾಢ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಜಂಟಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ, ಅಲ್ಪಾವಧಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸದ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲಿದೆ. ವಿಶ್ವ ದರ್ಜೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆಯ ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಎಂಎಸ್‌ಎಂಇ-ಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನವೋದ್ಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಪಾರ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂಬರುವ ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿರುವ ʼಕ್ವಿನ್‌ ಸಿಟಿʼಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾನು ಲಿವರ್ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇದೊಂದು ಕೇವಲ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲು ಆಗಿರದೆ, ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯತಂತ್ರದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಮೈತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದೆʼ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬ್ರಿಟನ್ನಿನ ಡೆಪ್ಯುಟಿ ಹೈಕಮೀಷನರ್‌ ಚಂದ್ರು ಅಯ್ಯರ್‌ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ʼಎರಡೂ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಲಾಭದಾಯಕವಾಗಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಗಾಢಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತ ಬದ್ಧತೆ ಹೊಂದಿವೆ. ಈ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆಯು ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ (ಎಐ), ಸೆಮಿಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್‌, ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರ ಸ್ನೇಹಿ ಇಂಧನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸಹಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾದಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡಲಿದೆ. ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತ ನಡುವಣ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿರುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಾಚರಣೆಯೂ ಆಗಿದೆʼ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ʼ2024ರ ಜುಲೈನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಉಪಕ್ರಮವು, ದೂರಸಂಪರ್ಕ ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಪ್ರವರ್ಧಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಡವಾಳ ಹೂಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನೂ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಲಾದ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತ ನಡುವಣ ಮುಕ್ತ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಒಪ್ಪಂದವು (ಎಫ್‌ಟಿಎ) ಉಭಯ ದೇಶಗಳ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ, ಜೀವನ ಮಟ್ಟ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಜನರ ಆದಾಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ನೆರವಾಗಲಿದೆʼ ಎಂಧೂ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ವಿಪ್ರೊ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಿ
ಉದ್ಯಮ-ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಗತಗೊಳಿಸುವ ತನ್ನ ಬದ್ಧತೆಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ, ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯವು, ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಚೇರಿ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಐಟಿ ದೈತ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ವಿಪ್ರೊ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ (ಎಂಒಯು) ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕಿತು. ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಶಲ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾಗಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತರನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಲು ಈ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಗೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಿದೆ.
ಲಿವರ್ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊಫೆಸರ್ ಟಿಮ್ ಜೋನ್ಸ್ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವ ದರ್ಜೆಯ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಾರತದ ಜೊತೆಗಿನ ನಮ್ಮ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಸಂಬಂಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡಲು ನಾವು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿರುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯು ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಮೊದಲ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳು, ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗಿನ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ನೀಡಲು ನಾವು ಬದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಲಿವರ್‌ ಪೂಲ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಹಯೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ನರವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ (ನಿಮ್ಹಾನ್ಸ್‌) ಜೊತೆಗಿನ 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಯೂ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿದೆ. ಇದುವರೆಗೆ 2,00,000 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜೀವಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಯು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದೂಸ್ತಾನ್ ಯೂನಿಲಿವರ್‌ನಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ಪಾಲುದಾರರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಉನ್ನತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ತಂಡವು, ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ, ಉದ್ಯಮಶೀಲತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಶಲಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಲು ಭಾರತದ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಪ್ರವೃತ್ತವಾಗಲಿದೆ.
2026ರ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಯುನಿವರ್ಸಿಟಿ ಆಫ್‌ ಲಿವರ್ಪೂಲ್ ನ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಾರಂಭ ಮಾಡಲಿದೆ. ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯವನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯವಾಗಿಯೇ ಒದಗಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ವಲಯದ ಪಾಲುದಾರಿಕೆಯು ಬಲ ಪಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಲಿದೆ.

At a high-profile event attended by Shri Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister Karnataka; Shri M. B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Dr. M. C. Sudhakar, Minister for Higher Education and Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health & Family Welfare,—who all extended strong support to the initiative—the University of Liverpool also forged a strategic partnership with Bengaluru-based IT firm Wipro for mutual collaboration.
Bengaluru, May 27, 2025: The University of Liverpool, part of the UK’s prestigious Russell Group, today announced its intent to open Bengaluru’s first Foreign University campus by 2026. The University officials, along with senior dignitaries from the Government of Karnataka, including Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri Siddaramaiah, came together in Bengaluru to mark the occasion and celebrate a new chapter in UK-India higher education collaboration.
The announcement was a celebration of cross-border collaboration and was marked by the presence of several senior ministers who welcomed the University to Bengaluru. The event witnessed the presence of Shri M.B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, Minister for Higher Education and Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health & Family Welfare each representing the state’s unified vision to position Karnataka as a hub for world-class learning.
The new Bengaluru campus will be grounded in the university’s research-intensive culture and internationally recognised academic standards. It will also serve as a catalyst for deepening partnerships with Karnataka’s dynamic innovation ecosystem connecting students and researchers to emerging industry needs in both India and the UK. The initial set of programmes will include Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences, and Game Design offered for the first time by a UK university campus in India. A broader portfolio of disciplines is expected to be added in subsequent phases.
Welcoming the University’s entry into Karnataka, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah said, “Karnataka has always been at the forefront of education and innovation. Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development Shri M. B. Patil stated, ” The University of Liverpool choosing Karnataka for its first overseas campus reflects our state’s growing global stature as a hub for both industry and intellect. This collaboration will drive deeper ties between academia and sectors like electronics, aerospace, and biotechnology—through joint research, internships, and curriculum design. It will also benefit MSMEs and startups by opening access to world-class mentorship and innovation platforms. I invite the University to explore KWIN City, our upcoming innovation hub, as a base for such partnerships. This is not just a milestone—it’s a strategic alliance to co-create the industries and talent of the future.”
Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner in Bengaluru, said: “The UK and India have made a commitment to refresh and deepen our partnership to deliver even more for both countries. Our expanded partnership will deliver iconic, forward-looking collaborations in diverse areas such as AI and semiconductors, higher education campuses, and green energy initiatives. The announcement of Liverpool University opening a campus in Bengaluru is both evidence and a celebration of the UK-India partnership.”
He added “The Technology Security Initiative, announced in July 2024, will deliver crucial collaboration on telecoms innovation and unlock investment across emerging technologies. Furthermore, the UK-India FTA announced recently delivers on the UK government’s core mission of growing the economy, raising living standards, and putting money in people’s pockets.”
In line with its commitment to building industry-academic partnerships, the University of Liverpool signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-headquartered IT giant Wipro, establishing a high-impact alliance designed to advance research, spearhead innovation, and cultivate future-ready talent through targeted skill development.

The University already enjoys robust collaborations in Karnataka, including a 20-year research partnership with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), which has helped inform World Health Organization vaccine policies, saving over 200,000 lives. Ongoing engagements with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and corporate partners like Hindustan Unilever further highlight the University’s longstanding commitment to the state.
Alongside the campus launch, the University’s leadership is exploring broader partnerships with Indian enterprises and global organisations to fuel innovation, entrepreneurship and upskilling. These efforts are set to create impactful opportunities for both domestic and international students.
With the new Bengaluru campus to be operational by 2026, the University of Liverpool aims to bring globally recognised UK education to Indian students, strengthen academic-industry partnerships, and contribute to Karnataka’s ambition of becoming an international hub for learning and innovation.
