Speaking on the occasion, Prof. A.P. Jnanaprakash, Registrar (Exams), University of Mysore, informed that the Ph.D. regulations of the University were as per the UGC guidelines. According to the earlier regulations the timeline to complete Ph.D. was five years, plus two, totally 7 years. But now it has been reduced to six years, with one year additional time. Thus, the fee burden for the students will reduce. A professor can guide eight candidates (plus two foreign students, 1 from Hyderabad Karnataka region, and 1 seat is reserved for physically challenged candidate, it will be applicable both for Associate Professor and Assistant Professor). The Associate professor can guide six candidates and Assistant Professor can guide 4 candidates.”
