Bengaluru, November 27, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): A new COVID variant found in several countries across the world including South Africa has triggered panic among the people. It can be recalled here that the Delta variant had caused a similar variant during the COVID 2nd wave. Now another variant named ‘Omicron’ has been unearthed. However, the Health Minister of Karnataka Dr. K. Sudhakar has informed that there is no need to panic about it.
Speaking to the reporters today in Bengaluru, Minister Sudhakar informed that he said that the World Health Organization (WHO) itself has informed that the new variant is spreading very swiftly. “However, there is no need to panic about it as of now. We conducted a meeting yesterday regarding this, and we have released new guidelines. Accordingly, any person who comes from countries where the new COVID variant has been found will be tested at the airport and will be quarantined if tested positive. We will again conduct a test after one week,” he informed.
Further, he also said that about 45 lakh people are yet to take the COVID 2nd dose vaccination. “Out of them, many haven’t taken the vaccination though the specified time is over. I request everyone not to neglect and take the vaccination without fail. If you neglect, it may prove dangerous,” he added.
“There is no shortage of medicine in the government hospitals. We are ensuring there is no shortage of medicines in the hospitals from Monday itself. We have also taken all necessary measures to supply the drugs,” he said.
