Heavy downpour in 14 districts: 73 people dead – Revenue Minister R. Ashoka provides information of rain havoc

Bengaluru, August 8, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “The State has incurred huge loss due heavy down pour in the last few days. 14 districts have witnessed heavy rains and 17 people have died,” informed Revenue Minister R. Ashoka.
In a meeting held in Bengaluru today, the Minister R. Ashoka informed, “the CM has already conducted four meetings. 16 villages have been flooded, displacing 21,727 people. Till now 73 people have lost their lives. While 15 of them died due to lightening, five have died in tree accident, and 19 lost their lives in house collapses and 24 due to floods. Nine of them lost their lives in landslides and one person lost his life in electricity accident. 609 livestock have lost their lives.”
“Kaalaji kits (kits with essential goods) are being distributed to the needy. The kit comprises 11 essential goods including 10 kg rice, 1 kg toor dal, 1 kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 1 ltr edible oil. A sum of Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to those whose houses have been completely damaged and Rs.50,000 for those whose houses are partially damaged,” he informed.
