Economical strengthening of the Cooperative sector is our aim: CM BSY

Bengaluru, Nov. 14, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “The Cooperative system is an economical system, which has been striving for the economical upliftment of the poor since its inception. The theme of this Cooperative week is “CORONA infection-Atmanirbhar Bharath-Cooperative Societies”. Hence, it is our aim to respond to the people in a positive manner and strengthen their economical position,” said Chief Minister B.S. Yedyurappa.
He participated in the ‘67th All India Cooperative Week 2020’ held at the Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha. In his inaugural speech he explained that during the lockdown period the Cooperative Department and cooperative societies in the State had shouldered the huge responsibility of distributing food material, food grains and vegetables to the poor, migrant workers and weaker sections of the society.
He mentioned that in the leadership of Cooperative Minister S.T. Somashekar the cooperative sector contributed a sum of Rs.53 crore to the COVID-19 relief fund and expressed his thanks on behalf of the government.
