ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್‌, 25,2025 (www.justkannada.in): ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಟಿ.ಜೆ.ಎಸ್. ಜಾರ್ಜ್‌ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸಂಪಾದಕರಿಗೆ ದತ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್‌ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಕೆ.ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು.
ಇಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಎಂಎಲ್ ಸಿ ಕೆ. ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಾವು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನ್ಯಾಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಬರೆಯುವ ಅಂಕಣಕಾರರಿಗೆ “ಮೂಕನಾಯಕ ಡಾ. ಬಿ.ಆರ್. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್‌ ದತ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನಿಧನರಾದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಟಿ.ಜೆ.ಎಸ್. ಜಾರ್ಜ್‌ ಅವರು ನಿಷ್ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತಿ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಸ್ವತಃ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ವರದಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿದ್ದಿ , ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಷ್ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ 1.5 ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂ.ಗಳ ದತ್ತಿನಿಧಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ತಾವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮದಿಂದ ಹೊರ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸದನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಹಾಗೂ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಕುರಿತು ದನಿ ಎತ್ತುವುದಾಗಿ ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವನ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳನ್ನು ಮೆಲುಕು ಹಾಕಿದ ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಆಯೇಶಾ ಖಾನಂ ಅವರು, ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಮೂರು ದಶಕಗಳಿಂದ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ನಿಷ್ಠುರ ವರದಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಇಂದು ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದು ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರಿಗೆಲ್ಲ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ವಿಷಯ. ಅವರು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವಿನಾಭಾವ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಅವರ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ಇರುವುದೆಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

MLC K. Shivakumar announces TJS George Endowment National Award in Media Academy
Bengaluru, October 25 – Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), K. Shivakumar, announced that an endowment award would be instituted at the national level in the name of senior journalist T.J.S. George for editors of media organizations in the Karnataka Media Academy.
He made the announcement today while receiving an honour and speaking at the Karnataka Media Academy. He recalled that he had already established the “Mookanayaka Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Endowment Award” in the Karnataka Media Academy for columnists writing on social justice. He also remembered that the recently deceased senior journalist T.J.S. George was an impartial journalist and would personally correct and mentor the reports of journalists. He announced that an endowment fund of Rs. 1.5 lakh would be established in George’s name to recognize journalists who work impartially at the national level.
He stated that he hasn’t moved away from journalism yet and would continue to raise his voice for journalists and the field of journalism, even in the house (Legislative Council). Shivakumar reminisced about his journalism career and his time serving as an Academy member, assuring that he would always support the Academy’s activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Academy member Smt. Ayesha Khanum said that Shivakumar has worked as a journalist for three decades and is renowned for his straightforward reporting. She expressed pride among journalists that he has been elected as an MLC today. She expressed confidence that he maintains an inseparable bond with the Academy and that his support would always be available to journalists.
Members K. Ningajja, K. Venkatesh, Shivananda Tagadur, and Abbas Mulla, among others, also spoke about Shivakumar.
