ವಿಶ್ವಲೆಜೆಂಡರಿ ಮಹಾನ್ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದವರಾದ ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಅವರು ಹುತಾತ್ಮರಾದ ದಿನವನ್ನು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸರ್ವೋದಯ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ವಿಶ್ವಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಲೇಖಕ ಜಾನ್ ರಸ್ಕಿನ್ ಅವರ ಅನ್ ಟು ದಿಸ್ ಲಾಸ್ಟ್ ಎಂಬ ಕೃತಿಯಿಂದ ಗಾಢವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ಸರ್ವರ ಉದಯ ತತ್ವ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಸಮಾಜದ ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಯವನ ಬದುಕು ಸುಧಾರಿಸದೇ, ಸರ್ವರ ಉದಯವಾಗದೇ, ಯಾವುದೇ ಬಗೆಯ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ, ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಅವರು ಚಿಂತಿಸಿದರು. ಅದನ್ನು ಚಲನೆಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಜೀವನಪರ್ಯಂತ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸಿದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹುವಿಧದ ಸಮಗ್ರ ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ಬಯಸಿದವರು. ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ, ಸತ್ಯಸಂಧತೆ, ಲೋಕಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಅಹಿಂಸಾತತ್ವ, ಸಹನೆ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಶಾಂತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಛಲ… ಹೀಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಹಲವು ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿರದೆ ಒಂದು ಮಹಾಶಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿರುವುದು ವಿಶೇಷವೆನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಅನುಕರಣೀಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು.

ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿದವರನ್ನೂ, ಭಿನ್ನ ನಿಲುವು ಇರುವವರನ್ನು ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತಹ ಪ್ರಾಕೃತಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿತ್ತು. ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನವೇ ನನ್ನ ಸಂದೇಶ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ಸತ್ಯಸಂಧತೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಪರಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಹರಿತ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಉಣಬಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ಅಹಿಂಸಾತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಜಗತ್ತು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು

ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸಂವೇದನೆಯ ಅಹಿಂಸಾತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಜಗತ್ತು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ. ಅವರ ಬದುಕೇ ಒಂದು ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯದಂತಿದೆ. ಆದುದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುವವನೇ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲೆಗಾರ ಎಂದು ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ  ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.

ತಮ್ಮ ನೇರ ನಡೆನುಡಿ, ಸರಳತೆ, ಸಜ್ಜನಿಕತೆ, ಸಮಯಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯ ನಿಲುವಿನಿಂದ, ಸರಳ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬದುಕುತ್ತಲೆ, ತಮ್ಮ ಅಪೂರ್ವವಾದ ಬರಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಣಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

Simplicity and nobleness were his greatest assets,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He offered floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhiji at a program held at the Gandhi Bhavan, in Manasa Gangotri campus, organised by the University of Mysore, on the occasion of the 73rd Sarvodaya Day (Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji).
Gandhiji had said that “any kind of development is not possible without improvement of the last person in this society and development of all. He struggled his own life to prove it. Gandhiji is considered a great leader because of his principles of humanity, truth, development of the world, non-violence, love, and harmony. His life is a perfect example for all of us to emulate,” he said.
