‘ಅವಧಿ’ ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ತಾಣ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಬರಗೂರು ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರಪ್ಪನವರ ‘ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ ಬಾ vs ಗಾಂಧಿ’ ಕೃತಿಯ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಉಳಿವಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಿರುವುದು ಕಣ್ಣು ಮತ್ತು ಕಿವಿ. ಇವೆರಡೂ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಪ್ರಜಾಸತ್ತಾತ್ಮಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಆತ್ಮ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಆತ್ಮನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಅಭಾವ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಲಿಯೇಟು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇವತ್ತು ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಿವಿಗಳ ಬದಲು ಹರಿತ ನಾಲಿಗೆಗಳೇ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಟೀಕಿಸಿದರು.

ಗಾಂಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ ಬಾ ಇಬ್ಬರಲ್ಲೂ ಈ ಆತ್ಮ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇತ್ತು ಎನ್ನುವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದರು . ಇದು ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಆತ್ಮ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಸಮಾಜದ, ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಆತ್ಮ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದರು.

ಕೃತಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ನಾಡೋಜ ಕಮಲಾ ಹಂಪನಾ ಅವರು ಇದು ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ ಬಾ ಅವರ ಒಳಗಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದ ಗಾಂಧಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಕೃತಿ. ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ ಬಾ ಅವರ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಾಂಧಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ನಿಜ ಅಂತರಂಗ, ಭಾವ, ಚಿಂತನೆ ನೋಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಬರಗೂರು ಅವರ ಈ ಕೃತಿ ಚಂಪೂ ಕಾವ್ಯದಂತೆ. ಇದು ಗದ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಪದ್ಯ ಎರಡೂ ಹೌದು. ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ನಾಟಕಗಳಂತೆ ಹೊಸ ರೀತಿಯ ತಂತ್ರವನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿರುವ ಕೃತಿ ಇದು ಎಂದು ಕಮಲಾ ಹಂಪನಾ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

ಕೃತಿ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಹಿರಿಯ ವಿಮರ್ಶಕರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ ಬಸವರಾಜ ಕಲ್ಗುಡಿ ಅವರು ಒಂದು ನೆರಳಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಅದರಿಂದ ಆಚೆ ಬಂದು ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಸ್ತೂರ್ ಬಾ ಕುರಿತ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಇದು. ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಸಂಬಂಧದ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ, ಹೋರಾಟದ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ಸಮರ್ಪಕವಾಗಿ ಈ ಕೃತಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.

ಬರಹಗಾರ ರಂಗಾರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಕೋಡಿರಾಂಪುರ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಕ ಅಭಿರುಚಿ ಗಣೇಶ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

Bengaluru, Dec. 25, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “Self-introspection is essential for the survival of democracy. But today nobody of us has it,” opined renowned litterateur Baraguru Ramachandrappa.
He was speaking at the ‘Kasturba V/s Gandhi’ book release programme organised by ‘Avadhi’ online. “Eyes and ears are important for the survival of democracy. Values will be more strong if these two function properly. It builds self-introspection. But today it is absent. Instead of eyes and ears, only tongues are working,” he said sarcastically.
“Gandhi and Kasturba both had those qualities and hence I value them. Their introspection was not only there’s, instead it used to be the introspection of society and democracy,” he added.
