ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ 27ನೇ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಚಿವ ಶರಣಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಕೇವಲ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಆಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲ, ಇದು  ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ವೃತ್ತಿಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಸುಸಂದರ್ಭ, ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಮಾಜದ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯ ಕಾಪಾಡುವ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದೂತರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಾನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೆಟ್ಟಿರಬೇಕು. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಆದಾಯ, ಸ್ಥಳ, ಲಿಂಗ ಅಥವಾ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನವನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೆ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಹವಾದ ಆರೈಕೆ ನೀಡಲು ಸಜ್ಜಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಡಾ. ಶರಣ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್  ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ನೀವು ಭರವಸೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅಸಮಾನತೆ ತುಂಬಿರುವ ಜಗತ್ತು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರಾಗಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾತ್ರವು ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕಲ್ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನೂ ಮೀರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನೀವು ಈಗ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಘನತೆ ಮತ್ತು ನ್ಯಾಯದ ಪಾಲಕರು ಎಂದು ಸಚಿವ ಶರಣ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಇದೆ. ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ಸವಾಲುಗಳು ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳು, ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸದ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿಯ ಆರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ನೀವು ಸಜ್ಜಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

 ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಜತೆ ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿಯಿಂದ ವರ್ತಿಸಿ

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಈಗ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುವಾಗ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ರೋಗಿಯನ್ನು ಒಂದು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಂತೆ ನೋಡದೆ, ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕು. ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ, ಗೌರವ ಮತ್ತು ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ವ್ಯವಹರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಡಾ. ಶರಣ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ನೈತಿಕತೆಯು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಆರೈಕೆಯ ಮೂಲಾಧಾರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದಿನ ತ್ವರಿತ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶೇಷ ಔಷಧದ ಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಮರೆಯಬಾರದು. ದಯೆ, ಆಲಿಸುವಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮತೆಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಸಚಿವರು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳ ಡೀನ್‌ ಗಳಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಹೊಂಬೇಗೌಡ ಶರತ್ ಚಂದ್ರ, ಡಾ. ಗಿರೀಶ್ ರಾವ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಜಿ.ಟಿ. ಸುಭಾಸ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲರಾದ ಥಾವರ್‌ ಚಂದ್ ಗೆಹ್ಲೋಟ್, ಅಜೀಂ ಪ್ರೇಮ್‌ ಜೀ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್‌ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಅಜೀಂ ಪ್ರೇಮ್‌ ಜಿ, ಉಪಕುಲಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಭಗವಾನ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಗಣ್ಯರು, ತಜ್ಞರು, ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

Bengaluru, May 6: Service must be the primary goal of every graduate entering the field of medical education. Patients should be treated with utmost care, dedication, and compassion. A healthy society must be built through your service, said Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, minister for medical education, skill development, livelihood and in-charge minister for Raichur district.

He was addressing the 27th annual convocation of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences held in Bengaluru.

“This convocation is not just a celebration of academic achievement; it is a moment to uphold the core values of the healthcare profession. You are all health messengers safeguarding the well-being of society,” he emphasized.

“Your knowledge and skills must be directed toward achieving equitable healthcare. Every individual deserves compassionate care, regardless of income, location, gender or social status,” Dr. Patil advised.

“You are stepping into a world full of disparities despite your confidence. As healthcare professionals, your role extends beyond clinical practice—you are now custodians of health, dignity, and justice,” he said. India is home to a diverse population and delivering quality healthcare comes with challenges. “You must be prepared to provide empathetic care even in rural, underserved, and remote areas,” the minister added.

Treat Patients with Empathy

“Your responsibility begins now. As you embark on your careers, treat every patient as a person, not a number. Approach each interaction with empathy, respect, and understanding,” Dr. Patil urged.

He emphasized that a sensitive mindset and ethics are the foundations of effective medical care. “In this fast-evolving age of technology and advanced medicine, never forget the values of compassion, listening, and cultural sensitivity—these must accompany your professionalism,” he advised.

Honorary awards were conferred upon distinguished deans including Prof. Hombe Gowda Sharath Chandra, Dr. Girish Rao, and Dr. G.T. Subhash.

The event was graced by governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Azim Premji Chairman of the Azim Premji Foundation, Vice Chancellor of RGUHS Dr. Bhagavan and several dignitaries, experts, faculty members and students.
