6th pay commission implementation not possible: CS warns stringent action if employees go for protest

Bengaluru, Apr. 6,2021 (www.justkannada.in): Chief Secretary of Government of Karnataka P. Ravikumar has said that it is not possible to provide salaries to the Transport Department employees as per the 6th pay commission and has warned of stringent action if they go with the protest.
A meeting was held today under the leadership of Chief Minister B.S. Yedyurappa to discuss the call of protest by the Transport Department employees tomorrow. Speaking to the press persons after the meeting the Chief Secretary Ravikumar informed that it was impossible to provide salaries as per the sixth pay commission and instead a nominal increase in salaries can be considered. The government has decided to increase salaries by 8%.
He also appealed to the employees to drop the protest keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. “We have already fulfilled your eight other demands. It is not possible to fulfill the demand of increasing wages as the election code of conduct is in force. We have paid you salaries even during the lockdown period. The Department has provided you salaries despite it incurred a loss. Despite all this, if you continue with your protest tomorrow stringent action will be initiated. There is no question of negotiation at all. We have also discussed implementing ESMA,” he added.
Further, he also informed that preparations have been made to make alternative arrangements with the help of private companies in case if the transport department employees go with protest. “If anyone causes damage to any vehicle strict action will be taken,” he said.
