“University of Mysore is the only University having its community radio- Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar

“University of Mysore is the only University having its community radio. I am very happy for releasing the Community Radio Logo on World Radio Day. Because of the Community Radio our University will get 5 points,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He addressed the gathering after releasing the logo of ‘Radio Manasa’ 89.6 MHz of the University of Mysore, at a program held at the Manasa Gangotri Vignana Bhavana.
“The government has appealed all the universities to have a community radio to face natural calamities and emergencies. We are the first in this regard. I wish this radio station will make good progress and extend useful services through programs involving students, faculty, and public institutions,” he said.
Prof. Niranjan Vanalli, Head, Journalism and Mass Communications in his address said the commencement of the Community Radio station will be helpful for the journalism students to enhance their practical learning.
Prof. M.S. Sapna, Convener, University of Mysore Community Station Radio expressed her view that Community Radio is a good platform for the students and the faculty and it will help in reaching out the programs of the university to more people.
Prof. R. Shivappa, Registrar, UoM, Prof. N.K. Loknath, PMEB Director, T.S. Dr. Devraj, Finance Officer, UoM, and others were present.
