Teachers should give priority to digital textbook under NEP: Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar

Mysuru, October 28, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore today called upon the teachers to give priority to digital curriculum under the new National Education Policy.
He participated in the two-day national lecture program organized by the Department of Social Works, University of Mysore, held at the Vignana Bhavana, in the Manasa Gangotri premises. In his address, he said, “today the digital platform has become very important. Demand for digital textbooks is gaining importance as the online classes are increasing. The National Education Policy explains about the smart classes. How students should read digital content? where it is available? which content is credible?, etc.”
“Digital is a new milestone of this century. There are all possibilities that it will reach more number of people and will do good in the coming days. As a result of this, it might become inevitable for the educational institutions to adapt to digital platforms to conduct discussions, seminars, etc. Such lecture programs will be of immense help in this regard. It will help to bridge the gap between the teachers and students,” he observed.
“The University of Mysore has produced several leaders. Many of them have identified in several different sectors in coveted posts. People like Visveswaraiah and Swami Vivekananda should become inspiration for the youth and students. I have also studied in the University of Mysore and now have become the Vice-Chancellor. Hard work, perseverance, regular research has helped me to become what I am today. There is an achiever in every student. But it is the duty of every student to identify it,” he said.
“The Department of Social Works has involved itself deeply in its work. It has been successful in establishing a direct contact with the society. Nowadays digital concepts have come to the fore under our social system. It is also simple and transparent in the advanced educational system. The students should make good utilization of this program,” he added.
