Society will be healthy by empowering women: UoM Registrar Shylaja

Mysuru, November 25, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “It is not just that only women should speak about women empowerment. Humanity and introspection in us itself is enough for us to work for the empowerment of women,” observed V.R. Shylaja, Registrar, University of Mysore.
She participated in a webinar organized as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, held at the Vignana Bhavana in the Manasa Gangotri campus. “It is not just that only a woman activist should talk about the rights of women. Women have the capability of working and balancing both jobs and families. That is why we call women ‘Mother Earth.’ Our Vedas have given a special place for women. Out of the total 130 crore population in our country 50% of them are women. There is no need to give any status to women, as they are efficient enough of earning it on their own,” she said.
“Today women have identified in every area, both inside and outside the family. I was a student at the University of Mysore. I studied here and now I am working here, and I am proud of my job. Today there are women drivers, there are women workers in garment industries, and aerospace and many of them are holding very high positions in many companies. Thus, they are playing a vital role in the overall development of society,” she added.
DCP Getha Prasanna, Syndicate member Y.K. Pavitra, Sparsh Chairperson Asha Manjari, and others were present.
