Social workers should come forward to help the weaker sections: UoM VC

Mysuru, March 17, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “The social workers should step forward to help the needy and weaker sections of the society,” observed Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in the inaugural function of the World Social Work Day and Asian Journal of Professional Social Work Website, held at the Senate Bhavan in Manasa Gangotri campus today.
In his address, he said, “the social activists perform various roles in the community. They provide confidence among the people to face the various challenges of life. They advocate for the basic facilities of the needy and try to provide essential resources for the improvement of the lives of poor people. They also respond during the times of crisis.”
Dr. W.G. Prasannakumar, of the Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education, Hyderabad, Dr. James Thomas, President MSW Alumni Association, and Dr. H.P. Jyothi, HoD, Department of Social Works, Dr. Rajamouli, Assistant Professor, and others were present.
