Professors research works will get more value when it reaches the society: UoM VC

Mysuru, October 1, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “Research works of professors will earn more value when it becomes useful and reaches the society,” observed Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in a program organized by the Department of Genetics and Genomics, held at the Vignana Bhavana in Manasa Gangotri campus and released the ‘You Tube’ Channel of Prof. S.S. Malini. In his address, he said, “today technology has changed our lives. I am the first batch student of the Department of Computer Science. There was no advanced technology during that time. We used to bring the professors and request them to teach us. We were studying on the over right project. But today, there are several inventions and discoveries like the internet, projector, smart classes, etc. Any research or study will get more value when it reaches the society like these.”
In his address, H.R. Ranganath, Senior Journalist and founder of Public TV expressed his concern on the increase number of cancer cases. “Treatment of cancer is very costly and facilities are not easily accessible, and that is the core of the problem. About two decades ago people used to get scared hearing open heart surgery. But today everything has changed. Technology has made our lives easy. It should also happen in the case of cancer. I will speak about the cancer that has affected the society, let the doctors think about finding out a permanent cure for the other cancer,” he said.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha said that Mysuru needed a cancer center. “Seven acres land was provided near the PKTB Hospital from the Kidwai institution during Yediyurappa’s time. Now efforts are made to get the required grants. I have also spoken to renowned industrialist Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. Another 18 acres of land has been sanctioned near Dadadahalli for the treatment of cancer patients. We can prevent cancer if we change our food habits,” he added

This YouTube channel explains us how everything including air, water, food we eat, etc., have been contaminated. This is leading to deadly diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, etc. It is the purpose of this channel to provide complete information about such diseases and lifestyle. As of now 20 videos have been uploaded. It has complete details about several diseases,” observed Prof. S.S. Malini, Chairperson, Genetics and Genomics Department.
