Mysuru Dasara Mahotsav: Forest officials pick 14 elephants for Jambu Savari

Mysuru, August 24, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): A decision on whether there will be a grand celebration of the historic Mysuru Dasara Mahotsav is yet to be taken by the State Government. However, the forest department officials have selected elephants that are eligible to participate in the world-famous Jambu Savari.
A team of forest officials led by DCF Karikalan has selected 14 elephants before the High-Power Committee meeting to be held with respect to the Mysuru Dasara preparations. All these 14 elephants are selected from different camps and the list has been forwarded to the Forest Department Head Office in Bengaluru.
Elephants are selected from Aanekaadu, Dubare, Mattigodu, and Bandipura. The list of selected elephants includes Vikram, Vijaya, Abhimanyu, Gopalaswamy, Bheema, Mahendra, Dhananjaya, Prashanth, Gopi, Harsha, Kaveri, Lakshmana, Chaitra, and Maharashtra Bheema.
In case if the State Government decides for simple celebrations the officials are contemplating bringing seven elephants out of these 14 elephants. Last year only 5 elephants were brought due to simple celebrations. This year keeping in mind the health of the elephants and as a precautionary measure, two extra elephants will be brought according to the officials concerned.
