MLC H. Vishwanath demands Murughashri to quit the post of pontiff temporarily and respect the law

Mysuru, August 30, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): MLC H. Vishwanath today demanded the pontiff of Chitradurga’s Murugha math pontiff, who is facing charges of sexual exploitation on girl students, to quit the post as the head of the math temporarily and respect the law.
Addressing a press meet in Mysuru today, H. Vishwanath observed that the Murugha Math has a vast history in the guru parampara. “It is really sad to hear about the news of sexual exploitation of the students. The Chief Minister should take action in this regard. Neither the CM nor Yediyurappa should try to protect him. One of the victims belongs to SC community. A case should be registered under the SC/ST Act. Why are Siddaramaiah and Congress not talking about this? he questioned.
Nobody should interfere
A case has been registered against Murughashri under the POCSO Act. This Act was introduced after the Nirbhaya incident that took place in our country in 2012, following wide demand for stringent laws by the people and several organisations. The POCSO is a very strong law and the Swamiji is facing this law now. Along with this, criminal law of exploiting children and SC/ST case should also be registered. Cases should be registered as per the law of our land. Nobody should interfere in this case that includes the Swamiji and girl students,” he said.
“Is the law for common people and the Swamiji different? Why are the leaders including Siddaramaiah, Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommai, Kumaraswamy not opening their mouth now? Is it because of votes? The victims should get justice in this case at any cost. Otherwise let the government tell that it won’t agree the POCSO Act. I will write a letter to the Prime Minister regarding this case. The pride of entire state is lost because of this case. Why are you people keeping quiet? What are the progressive thinkers doing now? Where is the Child Commission? If justice is not given in this case, it will definitely affect the 2023 elections,” he warned.
