Lifetime achievement award presented for scientific achievers

 

Bengaluru : Well known doctor Dr.B.M.Hegde and Science Writer T.R.Anantaramu were presented ‘CNR Rao Lifetime Achievement Award’ along with gold medal by Karnataka Science and Technology Academy for the year 2021 on Tuesday. Dr.Iddya Karunasagar of University of Nitte was rewarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Dr.C.N.Ashwatha Narayana, Minister for Science & Technology, presented the awards in a function held at GKVK campus. More than 40 scientific achievers including K.Vijayaraghavan, Scientific advisor to Prime Minister, entrepreneur Kiran Majumdar Shaw, writer Sudha Murty, Prof.Hemantakumar, VC, University of Mysuru, Dayananda Agasar, VC, University of Gulbarga, Tessy Thomas, DRDO were presented with fellowship of the academy.

Minister Narayana, who spoke on the occasion said, it is of no use from science if the results of decisive researches does not reach out to the larger public. The doors of science and technology should be open to all, he opined.

The Science and Technology Academy should take the leading role in creating a people centric scientific culture, he pointed out. Further, he told that several programmes to be taken up in public and private collaboration will be announced in the upcoming state budget.

Dr.Vijayaraghavan and Sudha Murty virtually addressed the gathering. Several publications of the academy were also released on the occasion.

D.V.Sadananda Gowda, MP, S.R.Vishwanath, MLA, S.Aiyappan, Chairperson of the Academy, Basavaraju, Member Secretary were present.
