Learning of technical courses in Kannada will be approved from 2022-23: DCM Ashwathnarayana

Bengaluru, July 19, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Deputy Chief Minister and High Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan informed that the students can learn technical courses including Engineering courses in Kannada from the year 2022-23. The process of translating Engineering courses into Kannada is going on.
“Teaching in native languages has gained significance following implementation of the new National Education Policy, which will provide more strength to Kannada,” he said.
He participated in a webinar on the topic, “New Education Policy: A study of Indian Languages,” organized by the all languages lecturers association of the Universities in Karnataka. In his address, he said, “The new National Education policy stresses on the need of providing technical education in the native language. Hence, the State Government will encourage the teaching of technical courses in Kannada. Kannada languages will be included in technical teaching from now onwards.”
“The teaching concept under the NEP is so nice. New technology can be developed based on our native language. We can use Kannada in the information technology sector too. Kannada language should also develop along with the development of technology and discoveries. It is the objective of the State Government to make the native language present everywhere,” he added.
Prof. Timmegowda, Vice-President, Higher Education Board, Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah, former President, Kannada Book Authority, Prof. T.V. Kattimani, member of National Education Policy Draft Committee, and others participated in the webinar.
