Court judgement is to protect sex workers, not for brokers: Odanadi Seva Samsthe

Mysuru, June 3, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Odanadi Seva Samsthe Director Stanley today, expressed his view that the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order says sex work is not a crime. The judgement is to protect the sex workers, not to protect the brokers.
Addressing a press meet in Mysuru today, he said, “sex work is different and business is different. The Hon’ble SC’s judgement doesn’t say it will protect people who convert sex work into a business. The SC judgement is to protect sex workers, not to those who do business in its name,” he said.
The police department, legal fraternity and associations and other stakeholders who play a vital role in prevention of sex work should understand this. It should be understood under the legal context. The police who conduct raids cannot arrest the girls, should not harm physically according to the court verdict, given by Justice L Nageshrao led three-member bench.
