Contribution of Ha.Ma. Nayak and HSK towards literature is immense: UoM VC

Mysuru, December 30, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “It is indeed a matter of pride to say that litterateurs Dr. Ha.Ma. Nayak and HSK have served at the Kannada Research Institute in the University of Mysore,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in the Silver Jubilee celebration program of the Akhila Karnataka Vachana Sahitya Parishath, organized in association h the Kuvempu Kannada Research Institute, held at the B.M. Shri Auditorium in the Manasagangotri campus and releasing of the books commemorated to HSK and Dr. Ha. Ma. Nayak.
“Dr. Ha. Ma. Nayak was a renowned poet, columnist, and folk scholar. He strove for the upliftment of the Kannada language throughout his life. Not only a renowned litterateur, but he was also an able administrator. He served as the Director of the Kuvempu Kannada Research Institute here, and also as the Vice-Chancellor of the Gulbarga University. His contribution to the world of literature is immense,” he said.
“H.S. Krishnaswamy Iyengar, who hailed from Mysuru, served as the Principal of the D. Banumaiah College and also served as the editor of the Maanavika Department of the Kannada Encyclopedia, in Manasagangotri. He also was the editor of a tri-monthly magazine named ‘Banking Prapancha.’ He was conferred with several awards and also enjoyed the pride of creating 1167 drawings of several popular persons using alphabets,” he added.
Dr. M. Shivakumaraswamy, General Secretary, Akhila Karnataka Vachana Sahitya Parishat, Dr. P. K. Rajashekar, Senior folk scholar, Dr. Shelwapillai Iyengar, Head, Ancient History and Archaeology Department, M.G. Narasimhan, Superintendent, Jaganmohan Palace, Prof. M.G. Manjunath, Director, Kuvempu Kannada Research Center, University of Mysore and others were present in the program.
