CET ranking confusion: Decision to question HC judgment

Bengaluru, September 5, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayana today informed that, the High Court direction to release the ranking based on 2nd PUC marks of the 24,000 students who have appeared for the CET will mete out injustice. Hence, we will appeal in court, questioning the directions.
He held a meeting of the officials concerned and legal experts at his home office today morning. “The advocates will decide whether we should submit a revision petition or an appeal before the single-member bench. We will follow whichever will get quicker disposal,” he observed.
“If we follow the HC directions, it will be an injustice to the 1.50 lakh students who have written CET this year, as there will be a huge difference in the list of rankings. Those who have appeared in court are sticking to some technical point. They should have properly understood the decision, which was taken during the COVID pandemic last year,” he explained.
“We don’t have any differences with the students of last year. We will try to solve the problem without hurting anyone. Everything will happen within the time limit,” he assured.
Rashmi Mahesh, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, P. Pradeep, Commissioner, Collegiate and Technical Education Department, Ramya, Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, and legal experts were present at the meeting.
