Ambedkar statue constructed overnight: Youth cuts throat for seizing the statue

Mysuru, December 4, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): A few youths in Mysuru were building a statue of the Architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, without bringing it to the notice of anyone. However, the police intervened and took over the statue.
The incident took place at the Matrumandali Circle in Paduvarahalli, Mysuru. A few youths were trying to erect the statue overnight. The incident came to the notice of the police, who stopped them and took over the statue.
One of the youths named Satish (29), a resident of Paduvarahalli, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat as the police seized the statue. However, he was admitted to a private hospital. Due to this, a tense situation was witnessed in the area for some time.
Residents of the area, along with the members of a few Dalit organizations staged a protest at the Maturmandali circle condemning the police for taking over the statue. The protestors shouted slogans against the District Administration and State Government. MLA L. Nagendra, MCC Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, DCP Pradeep Gunti visited the spot.
