A split verdict by SC judges in Hijab case: Case transferred to CJI bench

New Delhi, October 13, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Following a split verdict by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the Hijab row, the case has been transferred to the Hon’ble Supreme Court Chief Justice bench.
The Karnataka Government had issued orders prohibiting the wearing of hijab in schools and colleges. The High Court of Karnataka upheld the decision, which was questioned by a group of Muslim students in the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
Hearing the appeal SC bench comprising Justice Hemanth Guptha, and Justice Sudhanshu gave a split verdict. While Justice Hemanth Gupta dismissed all the appeals of the students, Justice Sudhanshu canceled the High Court order.
Due to the split verdict, the case has been transferred to the Hon’ble Supreme Court Chief Justice bench. The Hon’ble CJI will form a bench to address the case. Till then the Karnataka High Court judgment shall prevail.
